The passenger flow of Sochi Airport in the first quarter of 2020 increased by 6%

Sochi International Airport in the first three months of 2020 served 1,388,671 passengers. This is 6% more than for the same period last year, when passenger traffic amounted to 1,311,833 people. According to the airport’s press service, 1,322,551 passengers took advantage of domestic airline services (+ 5% compared to Q1 2019).

The international sector showed an increase of 24%, reaching 66,120 passengers. The most popular domestic destinations in Sochi were Moscow, St. Petersburg, Yekaterinburg, Krasnodar, Ufa. The top 5 international routes included Tel Aviv, Yerevan, Istanbul, Tashkent, Minsk. The growth of indicators is based on data mainly for January and February.

Since mid-March, as a result of the spread of coronavirus infection and the implementation of preventive measures, growth has slowed, and by the end of the month these figures are significantly lower than the monthly average.

Sochi International Airport (www.aer.aero) was founded in 1945. It was reconstructed and modernized in 2007-2013.
Investments in the project amounted to about 14 billion rubles. In 2010, a new airport complex was opened with an area of ​​65,000 square meters. There are 40 airlines operating regular and charter flights from Sochi. The route network of the airport includes 60 domestic and foreign destinations. In 2015-2019 was recognized as the best airport in Europe in terms of quality of service in two categories according to the results of the international study Airport Service Quality (ASQ) of the International Airport Council (ACI).
